Tour Overview
Choose a pick-up time between 8 and 10 am. We will pick you up directly at the pier of the cruise ship. Make yourself comfortable in your comfortable touring vehicle.
Leave Passau and take in the stunning, undiscovered landscape. On your trip from Passau to Mondsee, where you will have time to visit the Sound of Music Wedding Church, stop for photos at a few secret locations. Next is Salzburg, the
highlight on that private tour from Passau.
Start your tour of Salzburg by going to the Mirabell Gardens, which were also the setting for numerous scenes during the song “Do-Re-Mi” in the renowned film Sound of Music. Pass by Mozart’s home and birthplace as you continue through Salzburg’s old town.
A visit to Salzburg’s best viewpoint is the old town’s top attraction. All the must-see locations will be pointed out by your personal guide from there.
The rococo palace Leopoldskron, used by the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg, is located a little south of the city’s center and is encircled by an artificial lake. Ten outdoor scenes were shot here to represent the von Trapp Family home during the 1964 Salzburg filming of the Sound of Music.
Hellbrunn Palace is the next significant location. The archbishops of Salzburg used Hellbrunn as a retreat. It served as a venue for celebration, leisure, and healing for the prince archbishops. Hellbrunn, a vacation home with a sizable park and water features, was used by the bishops.
Return to the old city. Now, explore the historical old town center of Salzburg by your own and enjoy lunch in one of the many Austrian restaurants. After about 2 hours meet your guide again and start your return trip to Passau, Linz or any other port, in case the ship was moving during the day.
